For seasons, I have waited for her - my perfect mate. In a tribe full of happy couples, I am alone. But I am not content to remain this way. There are no eligible unmated females left, so I will do whatever it takes to bring females back to our tribe...even if it means doing something wrong. Even if it means I must purchase my mate on the intergalactic black market. I will do anything to possess her, to claim her as my own . But will my ruthless move turn my female against me before we ever meet? Can she ever forgive a male that bought her freedom?

Barbarian Redemption Ice Planet Barbarians Ruby Dixon Books

This installment in Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarian series was a solid installment. Her writing in these books seems much more simplified. In her newest series, she has kicked up the complication scale in her story telling and writing.

But for Bek and Ellie's story, I give this book 4 out of 5 stars, which is super high praise, and well deserved. The only thing that had me grumbling was the story element of someone kept as a slave for 10 years, and treated horribly, to be pissed off for so long over the fact that she was removed from that environment. One would think that being removed from that situation, even if you were placed in a new situation that was also not one you had control over but was LEAGUES better than the one you came from, would be far more desirable. And would make one grateful, perhaps? These women were rescued, regardless of how Bek had to get them to his planet. I thought it was more of a rescue in this case, so all the women, including Ellie, weeping and crying (though Ellie's distress was much more silent) over their new lot in life, or the entire tribe shunning Bek for his decision, was a weaker story element in my opinion. I do understand though that the role of any leader is not an easy one to do, and even Bek states "If there were no rules, there would be no reason for a leader." So I get it, Vektal has to take action.

That being said, I could not stop reading this story. The first time Ellie whispered "Safe" to Bek and slipped her hand in his, I literally shouted out an exclamation. I think I got a few strange looks my way in the library where I had gone to seek a quiet place to read. I think this story is one of her stronger ones, because the characters themselves have more internal change going on than prior characters. We have seen Bek as a surly ass or difficult stubborn ox through most of the series, and it wasn't until recently that the author started unfolding Bek a bit more and giving him layers. Characters with layers make the most interesting characters. Even Ellie had a compelling character transition throughout the book.

Another story element that stood out as a bit odd...is throughout reading this series, I always had a sneaking suspicion that Bek would be a more dominating lover. And that aspect of him is why it never worked out with Claire. The entire story, he doesn't really show a hint of that aspect because he is letting Ellie set the pace the entire time...until bam, right at the end of the book when they are finally going to complete resonance, Bek is pulling out all this hot, sexually dominating stuff, i.e, putting her arms above her head and enforcing that she keeps them there, ordering her to look at the stars while he continues to pleasure her...everything he did in this scene was hot and steamy and very dominating...and yet to have it crop up right at the end of the book seemed to make it stand out a bit awkwardly in the flow of the overall story arc. I wish that aspect would have been woven into the story more, or the story allowed to be a bit longer so that these two could explore that a bit more.

But even with those minor elements, I feel this is one of Ruby Dixon's strongest stories in this series based on character depth and progression for BOTH major characters. Thus, I give it 4 stars. Good job, Ruby! I shall be looking forward to more!

Barbarian Redemption Ice Planet Barbarians Ruby Dixon Books Reviews

OMG. Their are no words to describe how good barbarians redemption was. None. But i will say that i have been waiting for what feels like an eternity for bek to have his happily ever after (who hasn't?) and i am so glad he finally FINALLY has his mate. ) i absolutely loved this book and it might possibly be my favorite book in the barbarian series (so far ) along with ruhk/harlow and josie/haeden. There were certain points in the book i felt like screaming at the women to quit being b******. But then it all came together perfectly. Also fyi erevair is just so stinking cute!! I absolutely recommend this book it is a must read.
I loved Bek! He definitely won me over! I was never a fan of Bek's because of the way he treated Claire but he only didn't understand what she was going through. I love that he realized his mistakes. Him and Elly where PERFECT together! I loved how patient and understanding Bek was with Elly and that she brought out his softer side. And I love that Elly was eventually able to trust Bek and was taken with him so quickly after time. He became her everything. I liked Elly from the very beginning in this book and I hate what she went through being a slave.

I thought Bek needed someone strong who would put him in his place. But no... Elly was beyond perfect for him! And he was perfect for her. I'm glad Bek finally got his mate.

You did amazing on this one Ruby! I can't wait for Harrec and Kate's book next.
Bek has been a character that I didn’t necessarily hate, but you don’t really like either. He’s pushy and rather mean, and honestly I figured he’d get a girl like Liz, someone who is loud mouth and pushes back, but Dixon did better. He got Elly, a girl who needed nothing but patience and understanding, and helps Bek see that what he may think is best for everyone isn’t really taking into account the consequences that others may have to suffer. Bek really surprised me, and Elly is a wonderful character. Dixon really delves into the horrors of slavery, and helping not only Bek but the reader understand what it’s like to be considered nothing more than a thing. Truly a heartbreaking tale. However, it was so good Dixon even got me liking Vaza, of course knowing more of his back story and seeing how he treated Gail was too adorable to ignore. All in all this series continues to be a wonderful at not just spinning romantic stories, but looking into the issues people are dealing with and how each relationship has its’ own problems to work out.
Love, love LOVE this latest installment for my barbarians on Not-Hoth!!!! Amazing that Ms. Dixon can keep cranking out new, fresh and engaging stories in this series.
This is Bek's story. If you have read any of the previous books in this series you know that he hasn't always been....we'll say a worthy hero. However in the last couple books in this series the author started giving us glimpses into his mind and motivation which just made me salivate for his story. This did not disappoint!
Bek, craving a mate and family of his own, has decided to make his own fate and have people from his home planet find human women to bring back to Not-Hoth to be mates for the single hunters left. What they end up doing is buying slaves.
Out heroine Elly is almost completely feral. She was abducted from Earth 10 years ago and has been sold like an animal multiple times. She doesn't speak or trust anyone.
The road to HEA for these 2 is not easy but this book really takes you on that journey with them while setting up for the unmated hunters to possibly get their own mates. Cannot recommend this enough!!!!!
